I teach almost entirely by the “folk method” — by ear — consulting notation only when necessary. I think it is most essential for you, the student, to hear what you’re playing.
I love to teach and I am a very patient teacher, as any of my references will attest. I am willing to teach anyone who is willing to learn.
As I tell every beginner, you can learn three chords and be happy the rest of your life, or attempt to find the end of the guitar and be occupied for infinity.
I will introduce you to the roots of American music: blues, old-time, old country, Cajun, and Celtic. After several lessons, a motivated student will be able to either dig deeper or move on to the outgrowths of these roots: big-town blues, rock’n’roll, new country, rock, and jazz.
